City of Light The Traveler Gate Trilogy Book 3 eBook Will Wight
The Incarnations are running amok but will the power of Valinhall be enough to defeat them? There is a lot going on in this book, which made for an interesting read. The Territories themselves could each have their own book. So at times as a reader you feel you are missing a level of detail that would help to fully develop the world. Still, the reader is entertained to the very end and the path that the story takes isn't always predictable. I was happy that the pacing and fun that were at times missing in the second book returned in the third.

City of Light The Traveler Gate Trilogy Book 3 eBook Will Wight Reviews
The board is set for a really good fight. Simon, Alin, and Leah are uber but the enemy is tough. Good and bad are becoming easier to tell apart. I hope future tales are told. The many Territories and their Travelers would be so interesting to learn about. I hope Wight explores them in future tales. Recommend this series highly. A fun and fast paced tale that I look forward to following.
It was a good ending to a thoroughly enjoyable series. Will is not Robert Jordan, but if you don't go into it expecting it, then you'll really enjoy passing the time with this series. I rated it a 4, because it was indeed fun, captivating, and had some really interesting and new ideas for a fantasy series, but it could have had a bit more depth. Younger folks will enjoy it, and older folks will find it highly entertaining.
I am a big fan of the Travelers Gate Trilogy and have anxiously awaited the publishing of each one. This one had a few editorial issues but nothing that distracted from the story. There is plenty of action going on to distract from the errors! There was a lot of "he swung the blade into her neck. It was blocked though".... a lot of that. In my mind the characters in this book died about 30 times and then I had to bring them back to life again because of a blocked effort or a miss, I just feel like those first sentences could have/should have been reworded a little bit. I think this was a good end to the trilogy and am glad that I read it!
This trilogy, along with the Unsouled books, has been amazing. I've loved the storyline and characters. They are all so incredibly well written. The only issues are the very few misplaced/misspelled words. Such a tiny matter when looking at how great they have been.
I think the author did a good job tying up this trilogy. I also see an improvement in his writing even since the first two books. There are some unexpected turns in the plot, and the threads in the story line are tied up nicely.
I would consider reading this author again. However, that is mostly because of the improvement in the author's style in this book. The other two books in the trilogy, I think, just showed his inexperience. The characters were not too deep, the dialogue was simple or predictable. I sensed a maturation here which could mean good things from Mr. Wight in the years ahead.
I have read a ton of “indie” authors and mr wight is by far my favorite. His ability to make you care for a set of characters from page one to the end of a series is just astounding. The travelers gate trilogy has so many ups and downs it reads like a comic book mixed with Matthew Reilly mixed with Rick Riordan. Easy to read, easy to relate and easy to escape into his world! Only complaint is a personal one, I couldn’t stop seeing Simon as Ichigo from bleach.
The end of a book series is always difficult for me to review because even if it was good, it will be sad to say "good-bye" to the series. (And if it sucks, you know most people will read it anyway to see how the series finishes!) FORTUNATELY, this book has a very satisfying conclusion and yet still leaves enough room for future stories.
Things that were great
* Lots of action and battles that really kept the pace moving quickly and kept the story very engaging
* The main character (Simon) is still very likeable and it was fun to see his character grow through the series
* The ending brings resolution to a number of open issues and feels natural while still including a few unexpected surprises. So many authors seem to hate their fans and go for the shock ending (i.e. everybody dies, the hero is actually the bad guy, it was all a dream, etc..) so it was great to see an ending that everyone wanted.
A few things I didn't love
* Not enough Valinhall (in my opinion the BEST part of these books) - even a few more chapters on this great place would have made this a 5 (or 6) star review!
* I was a bit confused about the motivations for the villains (or even who the bad guys were) and the logic for the incarnations wasn't clear to me. I thought this was going to be a Justice League vs Legion of Doom type finale but it got a bit convoluted at the end.
Overall, a great ending to a really fun series. Definitely recommend you checking it out!
